Atherton Spanish Revival
Completed in 2020, this project was heavily inspired by the work of Addison Mizner. Mizner was one of the most talked about Architects in the early 20th century in the United States and practiced predominantly in South Florida. His works include the Everglades Club and El Mirasol “The Sunflower” a 37 room estate that was demolished in the 1950s.
Spanish Revival buildings typically feature stucco or adobe walls, red clay tile roofs, wrought iron details, and often include arched openings, courtyards, and balconies. The style also frequently incorporates decorative elements such as colorful tiles, carved stone, and painted ceramic murals.
This style feels at home in the moderate climate of the Bay Area and has a clean yet classic feel due to the clean lines and simplicity.
